2.1.2 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (T/F)

CPR is an emergency assistance method that involves a combination of chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

The purpose of CPR is only to reduce the severity of injuries.

CPR should only be performed if the person has a weak pulse but is breathing.

To check for a response, tap the victim\’s shoulder and ask loudly, \’Are you OK?\

Opening the airway involves tilting the victim\’s head backward and lifting their chin.

Chest compressions should be given at a rate of 50 compressions per minute.

The correct depth for chest compressions is approximately 5 cm but should not exceed 6 cm.

Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation should be given after every 50 chest compressions.

During mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, the rescuer should give two breaths while ensuring the chest rises.

CPR should be stopped as soon as the person regains consciousness, even if they are not breathing normally.

If you are alone and face an emergency, calling 999 for immediate assistance is recommended.

CPR is only useful for cardiac arrest and should not be performed in cases of drowning.

CPR ensures continuous blood flow to vital organs and increases survival chances.

Before performing CPR, ensure the victim is lying on a firm and flat surface.

The recovery position should be used if the person has a pulse but is unconscious.

The DRABC principle includes checking for Danger, Response, Airways, Breathing, and Circulation.

If a person has a pulse but is unconscious, CPR must be continued.

During chest compressions, the rescuer should bend their elbows to apply more force.

If the victim does not respond and is not breathing, CPR should be started immediately.

After performing CPR, the rescuer should leave the person alone and assume they will recover on their own.
